Work Order Statuses and Scheduled Dates

Sitefotos work orders move through six statuses. Most of the movement is automatic, driven by the scheduled date and by what happens in the field, so this article explains what each status means and which changes you can make yourself.
The Six Statuses
Status | What it means |

Scheduled | The work order has a future scheduled date. Its form is inactive, so the assigned contractor does not see it in the app yet. |
Open | The work order is live. The scheduled date has arrived, or it was created for the current date, and the assigned contractor sees it in the app. |
Paused | The work order is on hold and hidden from the field until it is resumed. |
In Progress | Work has started in the field. |
Completed | The work is done. This closes the work order. |
Cancelled | The work order was called off. This also closes it. |
The Scheduled Date Drives the Flow
A work order with a future scheduled date stays Scheduled and invisible in the field. On the scheduled day, Sitefotos flips it to Open and activates its form automatically. You can safely load jobs days or weeks ahead: the field only sees each job on the scheduled day.
From there, field activity moves the status along: when the contractor starts the job it moves to In Progress, and submitting the completed form can close it as Completed when the work order is set to close on submission. Multi-visit jobs can stay open across several submissions instead.
What You Set On your Own
On creation. Give a work order a status, or simply set a scheduled date and let Sitefotos derive it: a date today or in the past starts it Open, a future date starts it Scheduled.
After creation. The two statuses you set directly are Completed and Cancelled. The rest are automatically updated by the system.
