Building, ordering, and assigning service routes

What a Route Is

A route in SiteFotos is an ordered (or unordered) list of sites grouped together so a crew can service them as a single run — most commonly used for snow removal and recurring service work. Each route has a name, a category, an active/inactive status, a color, an assigned set of people, and a set of site stops shown on a map, sequenced into a fixed order only when the Ordered toggle is selected.

Once built, a route gives a crew a clear, ordered list of where to go and in what order, and it ties those stops to the people responsible for them. Routes also control which sites are visible to a given contact while the route is active, so you can manage them daily or by season to limit how many sites appear on someone’s work list and avoid confusion.

Opening Routes

1. Click Routes in the left navigation menu.

2. The Routes list opens, showing every route in the account.

The Routes List

The list is your home base for routes. Each row is one route.

Columns

Controls on the List

• New Route — button (top left) to create a route from scratch.

• All / Active / Inactive tabs — quickly filter the list by status.

• + View — save and recall custom views (filters/columns).

• Per-column filter boxes — type under any header to filter; click a header to sort.

• Top-right icons — clear filters (funnel), refresh, and column/grid settings.

• Row checkboxes — select one or more routes for batch handling.

Route Editor

Click a route name (or New Route) to open the editor. It has three working areas.

Left Panel — Site Picker and Map

• Sites table — every site you can add, with columns Site, Address, State, and an Add to Route column.

• + button — on each site row; click it to add that site to the route as the next stop.

• All Sites — toggles the picker between all sites and a narrowed set.

• Filter boxes / sortable headers and pagination (rows per page: 100 / 250 / 500 / 1000).

• Map — a satellite map below the list. Legend: Green = routed sites, Red = unrouted sites. Use it to sanity-check that stops are geographically sensible.

Creating a New Route

1. On the Routes list, click New Route. A blank editor opens with Ordered and Active both ON and assignment set to Everyone.

2. Type a Route Name.

3. Type a Route Category (e.g. “Snow Route”).

4. Optionally set a color via the color dot, and confirm the Ordered and Active toggles.

5. Set Route is assigned to (see Section 8).

6. Add sites: in the left list, click the + on each site you want. Each becomes the next numbered stop.

7. Drag the stop cards into the order the crew should drive (if Ordered).

8. Click Save.

Editing an Existing Route

Click the route’s name in the list to open it in the same editor. Make your changes — rename, recategorize, retoggle, reassign, add/remove/reorder stops — then click Save. Use the top Route Name dropdown to jump straight to another route without returning to the list.

Managing Stops

Add a Stop

Click the + next to a site in the left list. It appears at the bottom of the stop list as the next number.

Remove a Stop

Click the red minus button on the right edge of a stop card. (Remember to Save.)

Reorder Stops

Grab the drag handle on the left of a stop card and drag it up or down. The numbers renumber automatically. Order only matters when the Ordered toggle is ON.

Assigning a Route to People

1. Click the assignment dropdown next to Route is assigned to.

2. A people picker opens listing everyone with columns First Name, Last Name, Type (Employee or Contractor), and Company.

   1. If you choose to assign this to a contractor, routing will only work if the contractor is using your Company ID instead of their own Sitefotos account.

3. Check the people who should own the route, or use the select-all checkbox for everyone. Filter boxes help find names.

4. Click Select (or Cancel to back out). When all are checked, the field reads “Everyone.”

5. Click Save on the route to commit the assignment.

Status, Color, and The Map

• Active / Inactive — toggle Active off to retire a route without deleting it; it shows orange in the list. Toggle on to bring it back.

• Color — pick a distinct color per route so they’re easy to tell apart on the map.

• Map check — green pins are routed sites, red are unrouted. Use it to confirm stops cluster sensibly and you haven’t added a far-flung site by mistake.

Worked Example — “Route Test Scoop”

This existing route shows a typical finished setup:

To replicate it: New Route → name “Route Test Scoop” → category “Snow Route” → leave Ordered and Active ON → assignment Everyone → add the five sites with + → drag into the order above → Save.

Tips

• Save is the only thing that persists changes — build the whole route, then Save once.

• Use the States / Zone / Trades filters to shrink a long site list before hunting for the + buttons.

• Turn Ordered off if the route is just a grouping and sequence doesn’t matter — it avoids implying a drive order.

• Deactivate (Active off) instead of deleting when you might reuse a route next season.

• Give each route its own color so overlapping routes stay readable on the map.

• The list’s Active/Inactive tabs and column filters are the fastest way to find a route in a large account.
